The beechwood is dense and smooth, no snags on my wire at all. I use it mostly for forming wide cuff bracelets and the square profile gives me crisp corners with barely any filing afterward.

The rounded corners on this forming mandrel make all the difference when I'm bending square wire for bangles — no sharp dents to sand out afterward. It's a large block, so I can really bear down without it sliding around, and the wood holds up fine after a few months of steady use.
