Set-it! Moldable Thermoplastic Work Holder for Engraving and Stone Setting - Main image
$16.32 $24 In stock

Set-it is a moldable thermoplastic work holder that allows for setting stones with two hands! So many smiths struggle with getting good leverage and stability. This solves your problems! It's easy to use, less sticky than other thermoplastics and gets hard enough for using in the studio across a wide array of uses.

White rice like shaped pellets heat up in hot water and turn clear to form an initial mass that you can form around your piece and hold in a ring clamp, ball vise, swivel vise, or even just your bench pin! It is endlessly adaptable and has so many uses. Tool handles, engraving set ups for anything from flat pieces to complex knife handles, impression molds to use for metal clay and polymer clay and make non-marring jaws for pliers.

Thomas E. ★★★★★

After years of struggling to hold small stones steady while setting, this thermoplastic block finally lets me use both hands for the delicate work. Heated it up in water for a few minutes and it molded perfectly around my ring.

Hazel K. ★★★★★

I’ve been getting better leverage for my stone settings since switching to this thermoplastic holder—the way it molds tight around my work gives me real two-handed control. The stability beats using wax or a clamp.

Hannah ★★★★★

The thermoplastic softens up fast in hot water and hardens around the stone in under a minute, so I can finally hold the piece with both hands instead of fighting a clamp. Setting small stones went from frustrating to almost relaxing.
