I’ve been casting for years and still learned something new from the 1986 classic’s updated sections. The revised edition keeps the step-by-step clarity that made the original so useful, and the studio-reference format means I keep it right on my bench instead of the shelf.

I was surprised how clearly the revised edition explains lost-wax and sand casting together—it finally connects techniques I’d only read about separately. The diagrams are much easier to follow than the old black-and-white versions, which really helps when you’re setting up your first mold.

The revised edition fixed the one thing I hated about the old printing — the photos are actually sharp enough to see the sprue details now. I keep it on the bench and reach for it constantly when a flask or burnout question comes up. Easily the most dog-eared book in my studio.
