Learn how to install and adjust the Foredom Double Motor Hanger with base mount for a stable, organized rotary tool setup at your bench.
Quick Answer
Mount the Foredom Double Motor Hanger securely to your bench top using the included wood screws and base plate, then adjust the angled extension rod to position one or two rotary motors at a comfortable working height.
Why Use a Double Motor Hanger
A motor hanger keeps your rotary tools off the bench, freeing up workspace and reducing cord clutter. The Foredom Double Motor Hanger supports one or two motors, letting you switch between different handpieces without reaching across your work area.
Choosing the Right Location
Select a spot on your bench where the hanger’s upright rod and angled extension can swing freely without bumping into shelves or walls. The base plate requires about 6 inches of clear bench edge for a stable mount.
Installation Steps
- Attach the Base Mounting Plate: Position the MABC-3 Base Mounting Plate on your bench top near the edge. Use the supplied wood screws to fasten it securely. Make sure the plate is level and the screws are fully tightened. A loose base plate can cause the hanger to wobble during use.
- Insert the Upright Rod: Slide the 25-3/4″ long Upright Rod into the base plate socket. Tighten the set screw to lock it in place. The rod should stand vertical and firm. Check that the rod is fully seated before tightening to avoid instability.
- Attach the Angled Extension Rod: Fit the Angled Extension Rod onto the top of the upright rod. Adjust the height so the motors hang between 33″ and 38″ above the work area. Tighten the locking collar. Measure from the top of the motor, not the hook, to get the correct clearance.
- Mount the Motors with Spring Clips: Clip each motor into the spring safety clips on the angled rod. Position the motors so they are 20″ to 28″ off to the side for comfortable reach. Ensure the clips are fully closed around the motor body. Double-check that the clips are not pinching any cables or hoses.
- Test the Setup and Adjust: Gently tug each motor to confirm it is secure. Swing the hanger to verify it moves freely. Adjust the rod angle or height if needed before using your tools. A final check prevents accidents during active work.
